Die Lugner City – eine ganz eigene Welt für sich

Die Lugner City wurde im September 1990 eröffnet. Damals war sie das siebentgrößte Einkaufszentrum Österreichs. Wer schon mal in dort war, weiß bestimmt wie schiach diese ist. Es gibt Gebäude, die waren einmal schön und sind mit der Zeit veraltet, bzw. schiach geworden. Die Lugner City ist aber etwas Besonderes, sie war schon immer schiach. Ich rede hier nicht nur vom Gebäude selbst, sondern von allem. Das bedeutet hier: die Menschen, die Geschäfte, das Essen und letztendlich auch die Architektur des Einkaufszentrums.

Alleine beim Aussteigen aus der geliebten U6 merkt man, dass man in einer anderen Welt gelandet ist.

Überall komische Menschen, die einen fast umstoßen, ein Gestank, der kaum zu ertragen ist, alles in einem, ein echt schiacher Mix. Bekannterweise liegt Schönheit im Auge des Betrachters, ob aber wirklich jemand die Lugner City ansieht und sich denkt, „Wow, was für ein schönes Gebäude“, das bezweifle ich.

Ich habe mich gewagt, einen Spaziergang durch diese tolle „City“ zu machen. An Eigenwerbung hat  Richard “Mörtel” Lugner nicht gespart. Man findet ihn in jeder Ecke seines Einkaufszentrums wieder. Ich kam mir nicht nur fremd vor, ich war auch die Einzige, die halbwegs “normal” angezogen war. Leopardenleggings, Glitzerschuhe oder bunte Jogginghosen – hier gibt es alles, wortwörtlich. Bei der Auswahl an Geschäften, die man hier so findet, wundert mich das aber nicht wirklich. Man hat eine ziemlich große Auswahl an “billiger” Kleidung, was mehrdeutig zu verstehen ist.

Ich hatte Hunger, also beschloss ich nachzusehen, was man hier so essen kann. Gesucht – gefunden: Ein Dönerladen, wo auch noch Platz war, um sich hinzusetzen, wow. Schön mitten am Weg, so dass man eigentlich allen anderen im Weg “sitzt”. Natürlich konnte man sich aber auch neben eine Rolltreppe hocken, das war jedenfalls für alle anderen Besucher weniger attraktiv. Ich beschloss aber lieber nicht zu essen und begnügte mich mit diesem kurzen Spaziergang durch das ehemals siebentgrößte Einkaufszentrum.
